I got invited to LoveNVegas by Salina in 2023. She knew I was a reader, and I thought why the hell not. I bought my tickets and booked the hotel. Meeting the already established crew in Vegas was kind of intimidating but I was pulled into the fold like I was meant to be there. The rest is history.

I do it all. wink wink. For real, my passion has always been physical books and I have a large bookcase and three shelves full and overflowing of books. I have had Kindles on and off since 2009 but nothing compared to the feel and smell of a book. When I signed up to go to LoveNVegas and needed to read a bunch of books to find new favorite authors I discovered they all were on Kindle Unlimited. I’ve had a subscription since. I have tried to listen to audiobooks and I have a few favorites but my squirrels make listening to anything hard at times so I have to be in the right frame of mind or doing the right task to be able to listen to a book. Also, if the voice doesn’t match the character, it's a no go.

I have been reading since childhood. I even managed to hang on to some books from that time including a very well-loved copy of The Giver. I moved around a bit as an adult and the most important thing to hang on to was my books. My favorite genre is Romantasy which is basically fantasy with characters that fall in love. My favorite subgenre is enemies to lovers. Nothing better than tussling with someone and then falling in love. I use regular romance or cop/detective books as a palate cleanser, or coffee for my brain if you will.

Right now, on my bedside table is Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. I have aspirations to read it but I know he’s high fantasy and my brain prefers easy reads and I really want to love it but scared if to start and not get into it. I just finished prior to writing this (because I am a procrastinator through and through!) A Merciful Silence by Kendra Elliot and I'll roll into the next book in the series because I am obsessed with Mercy Kilpatrick and Truman Daly.

So, a 5-star read to me is a book I cannot put down or am anxious to get back to. Give me time and I can devour a 400-page book in a day easily. If it takes me a week to read a 600-page book, it won’t be a 5-star read because I obviously am not staying up past my bedtime to read it. So far, I’ve read the first 4 of 6 Mercy Kilpatrick books and they have all been 5-star reads for me.

Hands down I want to geek out at the feet of Jennifer Armentrout. I didn’t read for fun in college and was getting my education from 2014 to 2018. It was during the Covid panini that I decided to pick reading back up and the first book I read was From Blood and Ash. I quickly read all the rest of the then released series and I have been on a relentless pace to read since. I love her style of writing and I have enjoyed everything I have read by her.

This one is hard because what I need in a best friend is a tall order and even though I love my Shadow Daddies, the idea of dating (even though I am happily married) makes me want to gag. The women I consider my best friends IRL understand that I answer texts in my head and not on my phone. They get that I am a little neurotic and kind of squirrely in the brain and are never pressed by the whiplash of my thoughts. I think I would love to be best friends with most of the FMC I read about because they’re all strong badass warriors with copious amounts of baggage. Like attracts like.

I 100% want a fully engaging story over a well edited book. My brain will catch misspelled words or editing errors but I can gloss over them easily if the book has me in a choke hold. This goes back to my 5-star rating system, if I can’t put it down, then I am in love.

I am attracted to a book mostly by the description and can actually be turned off by the cover. I don’t really like people on the cover of books especially if it is romance and the cover is cheesy AF. I will take recommendations from certain people depending on how many conversations we’ve had about books. I know what I like and if they know my reading habits and recommend a book, I am absolutely adding it to my TBR.

I average 6-7 per month with a max of 14 one month. It depends on the length of the books because I have read 800–1200-page monsters but also read a lot of 350–450-page books too. I am a relatively fast reader and its literally my only hobby. I just hit my 100 books read mark today as I write this (Nov 2024) and when people give me a hard time I remind them I could be doing drugs instead.

Hi everyone, I’m Brianna aka Moony and I am your book club coordinator. So a little about me. Well I’m an Aussie girl living in the PNW and while I’ve lived in the US since 2009 this is actually the 5th country I’ve lived in. My hubby and I are raising our 2 boys and like their momma they are voracious readers. When my bestie asked me to join her at book signing in Seattle I couldn’t refuse. Along with a few of the other fabulous ladies we attended the Seattle book signing and BOOBS was born. After another book signing and wearing apparel the BOOBS Book club was firmly established, and we have been growing ever since. I’m beyond excited to see just how much this incredible group can do and it all started with our shared love of books.

I love the feeling of a physical book and it’s always my preferred way to read. That being said I do love my Kindle and my Kobo readers but if I truly love a book I have to have a physical copy. I wish I could do audible books but my brain just squirrels constantly and I can’t focus on it at all.

As a kid I remember hating reading when I was little. All the way until 2nd grade I absolutely loathed it and would do everything I could to avoid it. I have memories of arguing with my parents and telling them that reading was ‘stupid’. That all changed when my dog got sick. One day we came home and our miniature foxy was suddenly dragging her back legs behind her and we raced her to the emergency vet, who informed us she had a tick at the base of her skull and they were doing everything they could to save her. Being the animal lover that I am I was terrified we would lose her and I started asking my Dad tons of questions about ticks. After I’m sure the thousandth question, he gave me a book that had a whole section on ticks and said ‘If you want to know…read it’. He wouldn’t answer anything else unless I took the time to read the book and then I could ask. I learned to read that weekend. All it took was finding a book that actually interested me and I went from hating reading to loving it, and don’t worry my dog survived and lived several more years.

Ever since then, my love of reading has never wavered, and I enjoy reading all different genres. I love finding new books and authors especially since I’m always on the hunt for great books to recommend. If you’ve found a book you really loved feel free to send me a message with it.

I just received the The Butterfly Book Club exclusive edition of ‘Monstrous’ by Nicole M. Rubino. It is such a stunning edition that I immediately put it on my nightstand. It’s also the only exclusive edition book I have that came with a puzzle.

This is hard because I read so much and there’s so many fantastic books and authors out there. These aren’t necessarily my last 5 star reads but there’s a few books that have drawn me in so much this year that I can’t get them out of my mind. The Last Lost Girl by Casey L. Bond, Quicksilver by Callie Hart and the Castle of Nevers and Nightmares by Lana Pecherczyk.

Why did I decide to include this question? Seriously there are just too many incredible authors to choose from that I can’t even answer this.

I would love to be friends with Bandit from Lucifer’s Daughter by Kel Carpenter. I mean who doesn’t want a raccoon that can grow to 30ft and breathe fire as a friend?

A great storyline will always be more important to me. If a story draws me in and has me on the edge of my seat, then I can ignore some editing mistakes and will still go back to read more from that author.

I’m most influenced by the blurb and recommendations from people. If I do see a book with a gorgeous cover, I am inclined to read the blurb or reviews because who doesn’t love a pretty book?

I’ll be honest I read a lot, and I read quickly. Until this year I never tracked how much I read so I set myself a goal of 100 books, but I surpassed that before June. On average I think I read about 20 books per month, but it really depends on how crazy the month is.

I was at the first book signing in Seattle when the BOOBS were started. I have know a few of these beautiful ladies for many years.

I am mostly an audible reader, but will pick up a physical book when I have time.

I have read a few books over the years, but my love of romance books happened because of my dear friend Lacie, who is one of the boobs here. She got started with Devney hello nice to meet you Perry’s copper farmhouse.

I’m listening to the secret book of Flora Lea and I’m physically reading text books for school.

The Fate and Flame series by K.A. Tucker.

I got to go to the rain city signing in Seattle of a few months back and I got to meet Devney Perry who was my top author. I would love to meet Megan March, Jennifer, Armantrout, and Kerri Maniscalco.

This is a hard one! I don’t think I could pick just one.

Yes! They go hand in hand.

I judge a book by its cover. Haha! I also get ideas from friend and social media.

If I’m not in school it’s about 3-5 Books.
